For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Self-service devices of any kind (e.g. ticket machines)<\/li>\n<li>Consumer electronics<\/li>\n<li>Industrial applications<\/li>\n<li>Automotive industry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the elderly and persons with impaired sensory capabilities, this intuitive method of operation makes complex equip-<br \/>\nment much easier to use.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;3.8&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>The Linz Center of Mechatronics GmbH (LCM) offers a novel touch screen with innovative features. The heart of the system is a transparent plate that is actively deformed by piezoelectric materials, and thus gives the operator a similar feeling as when pressing a conventional key.<\/p>\n<p>In conventional touch screens, although information can be entered by touch, the user does not feel a tactile reaction. However, with LCM&#8217;s patented concept a plate is suddenly deflected precisely at the moment it is touched so that the user has a sensation comparable with a conventional key press. This intuitive type of operation greatly increases the input accuracy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DESIGN FEATURES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The sensor technology is based on a measurement of the deflection of the plate at different locations. This way, both the position and the intensity of the contact can be detected. When a minimum load is exceeded, the board deflects suddenly. This briefly results in a negative stiffness (a characteristic of a key confirmation) in the load deflection curve, see diagram on the left.<\/p>\n<p>The deflection of the plate is effected by piezoelectric patch transducers. These are glued to the plate and deform when an electrical voltage is applied, as shown in the diagram on the left. Durch diese intuitive Form der Bedienung wird die Eingabesicherheit wesentlich erh\u00f6ht.<\/p><h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\">KONSTRUKTIVE BESONDERHEITEN<\/h1><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Die Sensorik basiert auf einer Messung der Verformung der Platte an unterschiedlichen Stellen. Auf diese Weise k\u00f6nnen sowohl die Position sowie auch die Intensit\u00e4t der Ber\u00fchrung erfasst werden. Bei \u00dcberschreiten einer Mindestbelastung erfolgt eine schlagartige Verformung der Platte. Dadurch kommt es in der Federkennlinie kurzzeitig zu einer negativen Steifigkeit (charakteristisch f\u00fcr eine Tastenbest\u00e4tigung).<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Die Durchbiegung der Platte wird mit Hilfe von piezoelektrischen Fl\u00e4chenwandlern realisiert. Diese sind mit der Platte verklebt und verformen sich bei Anlegen einer elektrischen Spannung.
